Muppets Resurface with New Tricks up Their Fuzzy Sleeves

The Muppets return to the silver screen tomorrow, and this time they’re packing a little GPU technology to spice up the action. Check out this short video for a behind-the-scenes look at the movie, from the visual effects studio that worked on the film.

Don’t worry, you’re not going to see computer-generated Muppets. They’re still the same furry friends that we grew up with. But they are packing some nifty effects that are hard to film in real life – like blowing up Mount Rushmore, for example.

To create the visual effects that aren’t practical with people (or puppets), nearly all production studios use NVIDIA GPUs. Look Effects, a Los Angeles visual effects house, is no exception – they use NVIDIA Quadro graphics cards to render and composite each scene.

Judging from the video below, The Muppets looks to be great family fun. Will you see the movie this Thanksgiving, or stay home and play Batman: Arkham City? Tell us in the comments below.
